Jacqueline Casey

Jacqueline Casey

Graphic designer Jacqueline Casey was a Quincy, Massachusetts native who made significant contributions to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Her use of rich colours, bold font, and geometric designs that drew inspiration from modernism and technological advancement made her work distinct and one-of-a-kind.

Project Mandate

Create an animation showcasing transitions between posters to highlight the diverse works of graphic designers, capturing the essence of their style and creativity.

Design Thinking

To accomplish the task, a lot of vectorial and geometric elements—and less photographic ones—were used in the selection of the posters. The idea was to create a seamless transition between each poster, showcasing its beauty and unique ability to convey a message.

Design Making

Transitions heavily rely on movement, often twisting and moving from top to bottom and vice versa, to produce animations that look fluid. This worked well as Jacqueline Casey’s work consists of shapes and lines that are often dynamic and circular looking. The techno music choice conveys a sense of futurism, which is evident in the artist’s works, who frequently combined modernist principles with new technologies to produce her pieces.
